Prior to the start of the 1964 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, the support race featured two Austin Healey Sprites with sleek, fastback bodies; one of the cars finished a very respectable third in class. These diminutive race cars had debuted just one year earlier, and were regularly seen at tracks and club events throughout England performing extremely well. They were called WSM Sprites. The guiding force behind WSM Sprites was the owner of an Austin dealership north of London, named Douglas Wilson Spratt. In the late 1950s and early '60s, England's burgeoning sports car and racing specialists were either building cars of their own design or modifying production based sports cars to reflect their vision of what a competition sports car should look like, which was the focus of Wilson Spratt's Sprite project. In 1962, he teamed up with Donald Healey's London sales manager, Jim McManus, and together they formed The Healey Centre. They specialized in servicing Austin Healeys and doing high performance tuning. Within a short period they built a one of a kind fastback coupe of their own design using a Sprite as the foundation; combining their last names, they called it the WSM. Looking somewhat like a Ferrari 250 GT SWB from the rear, the WSM Sprite was a very attractive little sports car. Like other Sprites, it was powered by the A Series Austin 4 cylinder engine. Today, Douglas Wilson Spratt's son, Tony, is the man behind the reborn WSM company, and the cars they call Sanction II. Paul Woolmer, a former Sprite racer, got together with Tony back in 2001, and the two men decided to produce a very limited run of cars.

This Sprite WSM GT is based on is a 1964 MKIII Austin Sprite, found in state of Florida, then shipped to England. The body was then constructed in fiberglass using the original molds that the 1960s era WSM cars were made from, then bonded to the Sprite chassis structure. The engine in this WSM Sprite is a 1,275cc Austin A-series four-cylinder unit that was once installed in a Sprite racing car that raced in the SCCA. With 8.8:1 compression, a pair of larger 11/2 inch SU HS2 carbs in place of the original 11/4inch SUs, a ported and polished cylinder head and a higher lift camshaft, it produces around 65 horsepower with 4 speed gearbox.
The car was entered in the 2014 National Austin Healey Conclave car show and won Best of Show, competing against 207 other Austin Healeys. In 2015, it was showed at the Amelia Island Concours, and then in 2016 it was driven 391 miles to the Kiawah Island Concours in South Carolina. In 2017, it was drive 1,800 miles round trip to attend the Ault Park Concours d'Elegance in Cincinnati. The car is equipped with wire wheels and custom fitted leather luggage. This is an ultra rare automobile suited for any long distance vintage car rally or concours event.
