1962 Jaguar MK 2

The Jaguar Mark II sedan was a useful and elegant update of the company’s first small unibody sedan, the Mark I of 1955. The modifications resulted in what is often considered to be the best-looking, most compact Jaguar sedan. Jaguar’s Mark II of 1959 had a larger greenhouse, bigger side and rear windows, a wider rear track that did away with the full fender skirts, a new grille, fitted fog lamps, and standard four-wheel disc brakes. The interior remained a thing of beauty, with a walnut veneer dash, multiple gauges that were now placed in front of the driver, a row of toggle switches, and comfortable seats.
The engine range continued to consist of the DOHC aluminum six-cylinder, in 2.4-liter, 3.4-liter and 3.8-liter displacement. Horsepower output ranged from 120 to 210, and top speed went from 96 mph to 125 mph. The transmission was usually a four-speed with overdrive, though some Borg-Warner automatics were sold, mostly in America. 
 
This MK 2 Jaguar sedan has been in one family for over 50 years! It has the desirable 3.8 liter double overhead cam 6 cylinder that it came from the factory with making it a matching number car. The Borg Warner 3 speed automatic coupled with retrofitted modern AC renders this MK2 an excellent usable driver even for most weather conditions. These MK2's were used in England as Police cars back in the day notably for their speed, sporty handling characteristics, and reliability. This particular car has been used in family weddings, local shows, and daily transportation for some of its life. The wood dash and side trim was refinished a few years ago and is in excellent condition. The red interior is also in great shape and is nice contrast to the very black paint finish. There are records dating back to this family's ownership since 1979.
