1976 Triumph TR6
The Triumph TR6 was the ultimate incarnation of the chassis-based Triumph TR series that had begun with the TR2 in 1953. It ran from late 1968 to 1976, just under 95,000 were built, with 91% exported, mainly of course, to the US. Many saw the TR6 as the last of a breed of hairy chested British sports cars, and as the only appropriate replacement for the Austin Healey 3000, which had ceased production in 1968. The TR6 featured a 4-speed manual transmission. Brakes were discs at the front and drums at the rear. The dashboard was walnut veneer. Construction was traditional frame with other features included:,
Independent rear suspension,
Rack and pinion steering
15 inch rally wheels and Redline Michelin tires
Original pile carpet on floors and trunk/boot
Original bucket seats
Original reflector stripe convertible top
This particular TR6 is the last year this car was produced. It is a very original, unrestored, and undamaged 2 owner car purchased new in Iowa. Finding such a low mileage unmolested TR6 is quite rare, it even has all of its factory pollution equipment in tact and functioning properly. The car has been serviced in our shop and has been given a vigorous road test by myself. It was no surprise to find the performance and drivability is as good now as it was 44 years ago when it left the factory. Come in and see it for yourself if you are interested in reliving your youth!
