1980 Triumph TR8

1980 Triumph TR8

The Triumph TR8, eight-cylinder version of the "wedge-shaped" Triumph TR7 sports car was designed by Harris Mann and manufactured by British Leyland. Because of its outstanding performance, the TR8 was often dubbed the "English Corvette". The majority of TR8s were sold in the United States and Canada.

The TR8 did not use Triumph's own single overhead cam V8 as found in the Stag due to its weight and service record but instead shared its Rover V8 engine with the Rover SD1. The engine itself was derived from an early 1960s Buick/Oldsmobile all-aluminium V8 3.52 L that Rover acquired from General Motors in the mid-60s. Very few genuine TR8s exist outside of the United States and Canada.

This a 2 owner Gold and Tartan Tan TR8 with low mileage (22K) has original markings still visible on the frame, factory stickers under the bonnet, and dealer sticker! Well cared for, recent replacement items include premier top and seat covers from the UK, alternator, tie rod ends, ball joints, urethane bushings on front suspension, master cylinder, break lines, fuel pump and fuel level sender unit, rebuilt ZS carbs and chokes, water pump, distributor, coil, plugs and wires. Equipped with 5 speed manual, factory A/C, luggage rack, and alloy wheels. This car drives and looks as new.
