1979 MG B Roadster

The roadster was the first of the MGB range to be produced. The body was a pure two seater; a small rear seat was a rare option at one point. By making better use of space the MGB was able to offer more passenger and luggage accommodation than the earlier MGA. In late 1967, sufficient changes were introduced for the factory to define a Mark II model for the 1968 model year. Changes included synchromesh on all four gears with revised ratios, a new rear axle, and an alternator in place of the dynamo with a change to a negative earth system. The MGB was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph impact with an immovable barrier (200 ton). Specially tuned MGBs were successful in international road competition events, scoring a Grand Touring category victory in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally.[39] Circuit racing wins included the Guards 1000 miles race at Brands Hatch in 1965 and the 84 hour Marathon at Nurburgring in 1966. MGBs also won the GT Category in the 1966 Targa Florio, the 1966 Spa 1000 and the 1967 Spa 1000.

This MGB roadster is an exceptional ONE OWNER example presented in Carmine and tan interior colors. It also has very low original mileeage of 38k. This great little MG also has the two most desirable options available on MGB's which are electric overdrive transmission and real wire wheels. The Overdrive trans is great for highway cruising while also preserving engine life and fuel. The real wire wheels are what every British sports car deserves to maintain its heritage. The owner did a superior job of keeping up with maintenance, both mechanical and cosmetic aspects are in top condition. This is one of the tightest, smoothest driving MGB roadsters we have driven in a while. The motor is quiet, has excellent oil pressure and pulls strongly through all four gears. It still retains the original air pump and it functions as intended. The 4 speed shifts easily in and out of gears at any speed with no hesitation or strange noises. The car has original jack bag with jack and lug wrench. There also is an owners manual, jack and tool bag. This MGB is a great car to enjoy drives in the country or take to local car shows.
