The MGB is a two-door sports car manufactured and marketed from 1962 until 1980 by the British Motor Corporation, later the Austin-Morris division of British Leyland, as a four cylinder, soft-top sports car. It was announced and its details first published on 19 September 1962. Replacing the MGA in 1962, production of the MGB and its variants continued until 1980. Development of the MGB started at least as early as 1958 with a progressive, modern design in 1962, utilizing a unitary structure. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind up windows were standard, and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. A parcel shelf was fitted behind the seats. The MGB achieved a 0–60 mph time of just over 11 seconds. The three-bearing 1,798 cc B-Series engine produced 95 hp at 5,400 rpm upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft.
This 1969 MGB roadster was purchased by the seller in 2013 and subsequently mechanically and cosmetically refurbished. It is finished in British Racing Green with a silver factory hardtop over black interior and is powered by an overbored 1.8-liter inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. In addition to refinishing the exterior and reupholstering the interior, mechanical work performed by the seller is said to include rebuilding the drivetrain, suspension, and brakes, as well as replacement of the fuel tank, tires, and battery. The engine was also fitted with a downdraft carburetor with automatic choke and an performance air cleaner. The previous owner refinished the exterior in British Racing Green in 2018, and work included removal and filling of the side markers and application of two-stage paint. Lucas driving lights were installed, and the removable hardtop was also repainted and fitted with replacement windows. A brand new convertible has been installed and a boot cover. Refurbishment included rebuilding the kingpins and shocks as well as and the replacement of the brake master cylinder and brake lines. This MGB drives as if it was only a year old!
