1965 Porsche 356C Coupe

1965 Porsche 356C Coupe

The 356 was created by Ferdinand Porsche (son of Ferdinand Porsche, founder of the German company), who founded the Austrian company with his sister, Louise. Like its cousin, the Volkswagen Beetle (which Ferdinand Porsche Sr. had designed), the 356 is a four-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive car with unitized pan and body construction. The chassis was a completely new design, as was the 356's body, designed by Porsche employee Erwin Komenda. The last revision of the 356 was the 356 C introduced for the 1964 model year. It featured disc brakes all around, as well as an option for the most powerful pushrod engine Porsche had ever produced and a 12 Volt electrical system. Production of the 356 peaked at 14,151 cars in 1964, the year that its successor, the new Porsche 911, was introduced to the US market (it was introduced slightly earlier in Europe). The company continued to sell the 356 C in North America through 1965 as demand for the model remained quite strong in the early days of the heavier and more "civilized" 911.

This Porsche 356C coupe was purchased just over 23 years ago in 1999 from our dealership by a local owner. The car was sold new in Sherman Oaks, CA and later made its way to Florida with only two prior family member owners. This 356 C coupe is badged as an SC and has an SC tach, 160 MPH speedo, and Solex carbs. The car is equipped with factory driving lights, extended steering wheel, Talbot mirror, chrome wheels dated stamped 3/65, chrome horn ring, and Porsche crested seat belts.  The car was originally Togo brown with tan interior.  It retains original floor pans which are in great condition. The car is equipped with chrome wheels, original jack, wrench & spanner, tool kit, and owners handbook. It has a matching number motor and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. This 356C starts instantly, shifts smoothly, and drives enthusiastically.  It is a super driver, local show quality that turns heads where ever it goes.
