1964 Triumph TR4
The Triumph TR4 is a sports car produced by the Triumph Motor Company from 1961 to 1965. As the successor to the TR3A, the car was based on the chassis and drivetrain of the previous TR sports cars, but with a modern body designed by Michelotti. The new TR4 body style did away with the cutaway door design of the previous TRs to allow for wind-down (roll-up) windows in place of less convenient side-curtains. The angular rear allowed a boot (trunk) with considerable capacity for a sports car.
This TR4 is a wonderfully preserved original car. It has original unrusted body, floors, and chassis which is quite rare for vintage British cars. The seats have been recovered in the original correct style leather with contrast stitching. It also has the original banjo style steering wheel which is in super shape. The convertible top was recently replaced with the a premium mohair canvas which is great looking and easy to fold. This was the first year Triumph used the walnut wood dash which carried on thru TR6 production. The original 2.2 liter motor with twin Stromberg carbs runs strong with excellent oil pressure, and no smoke or noises. It drives as well as any TR4 I have driven.
