1947 MG TC

The TC Midget was the first postwar MG, and was launched in 1945. The TC is quite accurately well known as the car that caused the sports car "craze"in America. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1,250 cc pushrod-OHV engine with a slightly higher compression ratio of 7.4:1 giving 54.5 bhp at 5200 rpm. The TC engine was a slightly improved version of the XPAG first introduced to MG in the TB. Notable improvement was through the addition of a hydraulically adjusted timing chain tensioner. All TCs utilized a 12 volt electrical system. All TCs came with 19" Dunlop wire wheels. It was exported to the United States, even though only ever built in right hand drive. The export version had slightly smaller US specification sealed-beam headlights and twin tail lights, as well as turn signals and chromed front and rear bumpers with over riders.
This 1947 MG TC is finished in British Racing Green over a tan leather interior and is powered by a 1,250cc XPAG inline-four paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The car was reportedly refurbished prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2013. This MG TC is offered with factory tools, accessories, and side curtains. The exterior features a badge bar, a fold-down windscreen, Motor Minder temperature meter, sun visors, and wind wings. The right-hand-drive cabin features individual seats upholstered in tan leather, as well as matching door panels over black carpeting. Black lap belts have been installed. A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel has the MG logo in the center and fronts a wooden dashboard with Jaeger gauges. The odometer shows approximately 3k miles, of which the seller has added approximately 250; true mileage is unknown. Plaques affixed to the engine bay indicate that the car was shown in New Jersey and New York in the mid-1990s and in Florida in 2001. The original motor is numbers matching.
