British race-driver Ken Rudd constructed the very first Ace-Bristol, but his hybrid was quickly adopted by the AC factory. First shown in autumn 1956, the AC Ace-Bristol and the companion AC Aceca-Bristol were in production by the spring of 1957. Because it was not only more powerful than AC’s own engine but capable of a lot more power-tuning, the Bristol unit made these cars, especially the Ace, much more suited for competition. When Bristol ceased building their 6-cylinder engine in 1961, AC's owner, Charles Hurlock, was approached by Carroll Shelby to use a Ford V8 in the Ace chassis, producing the AC Cobra in 1962. Production of the Ace ended the same year. The AC Cobra came in small block and later big block configurations. It was Ford's 289 that powered the winning car in the GT class at Le Mans in June 1964. This AC Ace Bristol has undergone an extensive restoration to show standards while retaining it's matching number original motor. Retrofitted with 3 downdraft Weber carbs, the car has seen selective use in long distance rallies. It is complete with top, tonneau cover, glass wind wings, and original Lucas Tri-bar headlamps. This AC Bristol is a most desirable collectible both proven and sorted. The Alfa Romeo Spider is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993 — with small run of 1994 models for the North American market. The Spider remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The first three series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993 — the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo before the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione of 2007. In 1978 Niki Lauda joined the Brabham Alfa Romeo for a new start after his stint with Ferrari. With Spiders in full production, and to celebrate this new addition to Alfa’s race team, it was decided that Niki Lauda was to be commemorated by a special edition Spider in his name. Launched at the 1978 Long Beach Grand Prix, the Niki Lauda Spider, Chassis # 001 was driven on the circuit by Niki himself. Thus, we are left today with only an estimated 350 Niki Lauda Special Edition Spiders. The differences are subtle, but all add up to a fantastic look. They include such items as a fiberglass rear spoiler that wraps onto the rear quarters that was a first for Alfa Romeo and only seen on past prototypes; special badging on the sides, and a numbered plaque on the dash. Only one color scheme was offered in remembrance of the Brabham F1 livery, Red with stick on blue/white stripes. Other differences included door mirrors, exhaust tip etc… This is number 218 of 350 Niki Lauda Specials built and is an all original 3 owner car. It has been serviced since new by a the local selling dealer and now Alfa specialist. The patina is just wonderful! The 3000 Mark III was launched in October 1963, and remained in production until the end of 1967 when production of Austin-Healeys ceased. (One further car was built in March 1968.) Classified as the BJ8, the new model was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys, with a walnut-veneer dash, wind-up windows, and a 150 hp (112 kW) engine. Improvements to the engine included a new camshaft and valve springs, and twin SU 2" HD8 carburetors, together with a new design of exhaust system. Servo-assisted brakes were now fitted as standard. Only 2+2 seat versions were made. Option extras were similar to those offered for the Mark II, the main change being that the standard interior trim was now Ambla vinyl, with leather seats being added to the list of options. In May 1964 the Phase II version of the Mark III was released, which had a modified rear chassis to allow rear ground clearance to be increased, and subsequently, in March 1965 the car also gained separate indicators. A total of 17,712 were made. This Austin Healey 3000MK3 has been professionally restored and photo documented. The car has been well sorted and can be driven enthusiastically on the scenic back roads or taken to local shows. This BJ8 is equipped with electric overdrive, chrome wire wheels, and has leather seats. It is a very desirable example at a very conservative price! The Austin-Healey Sprite is a small open sports car that was announced to the press in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) on 20 May 1958, just before that year's Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that "a chap could keep in his bike shed", yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven. The Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company, which received a royalty payment from the manufacturers BMC. It first went on sale at a price of £669, using a tuned version of the Austin A-Series engine and as many other components from existing cars as possible to keep costs down. The Mark II used the same 948 cc engine (engine code 9CG) but with larger twin 11?4 inch SU carburettors increasing power to 46.5 bhp and a close-ratio gearbox. The bodywork was completely revamped, with the headlights migrating to a more conventional position in the wings, either side of a full-width grille. At the rear, styling borrowed from the soon-to-be-announced MGB gave a similarly more modern look, with the added advantages of an opening boot lid and conventional rear bumper bar. The result was a much less eccentric-looking sports car. This Sprite was sold by us 14 years ago and has been with that owner since. He has passionately maintained it and is now ready to pass it on to a new owner. There was over $20k invested rebuilding the little car which has an original 1098cc motor. It has the convertible top and frame, tonneau cover, and manuals. A super driving example as this is hard to find! The Austin-Healey 3000 was introduced in 1959, replacing the Austin-Healey 100-6. Despite the name change, the changes were relatively minor compared to those between the original 100 and the 100-6. The wheelbase and body remained unchanged, and there remained two models, a 2+2 and a two-seater.The original Austin Healey 3000 has a 2912 cc I6 engine, with twin SU carburetors and Girling front disc brakes. The BJ7 Mark II was released, previously only being known as the 3000, with roll up windows and a folding top, wire wheels, overdrive gearbox, a laminated windscreen, a heater, an adjustable steering column. This Austin Healey BJ7 we have is a very well maintained example. It starts instantly, runs quietly, and shifts smoothly. The Healey is very tight driving and has nice power. The overdrive engages quickly as it should and disengages equally as well. If you are looking for an affordable, usable Healey this is your car. It can be driven vigorously on back twisty country roads or taken to local shows. The R Type is the second series of post-war Bentley automobiles, replacing the Mark VI. Essentially a larger-boot version of the Mk VI, the R type is regarded by some as a stop-gap before the introduction of the S series cars in 1955. As with its predecessor, a standard body was available as well as coachbuilt versions by firms including H. J. Mulliner & Co., Park Ward, Harold Radford, Freestone and Webb and others. Other than the radiator grilles and the carburation there was little difference between the standard Bentley R Type and the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn. The R Type was the more popular marque, with some 2,500 units manufactured during its run to the Silver Dawn's 760. During development it was referred to as the Bentley Mark VII. Indeed the chassis cards for these cars describe them as Bentley 7. The R Type name which is now usually applied stems from chassis series RT. The front of the saloon model was identical to the Mark VI, but the boot (trunk) was almost doubled in capacity and the engine increased in displacement from 4.25 to 4.5 litres. For buyers looking for a more distinctive car, a decreasing percentage had custom coachwork available from the dwindling number of UK coachbuilders. These ranged from the grand flowing lines of Freestone and Webb's conservative, almost prewar shapes, to the practical conversions of Harold Radford which including a clamshell style tailgate and folding rear seats. All R Type models use an iron-block/aluminium-head straight-6 engine fed by twin SU Type H6 carburettors. The basic engine displaced 4.6 L. A 4-speed manual transmission was standard with a 4-speed automatic option becoming standard on later cars. This is a very lovely original example with low mileage showing but undocumented. The car runs but would need a master brake cylinder to be driven. We are currently accepting offers.
