British race-driver Ken Rudd constructed the very first Ace-Bristol, but his hybrid was quickly adopted by the AC factory. First shown in autumn 1956, the AC Ace-Bristol and the companion AC Aceca-Bristol were in production by the spring of 1957. Because it was not only more powerful than AC’s own engine but capable of a lot more power-tuning, the Bristol unit made these cars, especially the Ace, much more suited for competition. When Bristol ceased building their 6-cylinder engine in 1961, AC's owner, Charles Hurlock, was approached by Carroll Shelby to use a Ford V8 in the Ace chassis, producing the AC Cobra in 1962. Production of the Ace ended the same year. The AC Cobra came in small block and later big block configurations. It was Ford's 289 that powered the winning car in the GT class at Le Mans in June 1964. This AC Ace Bristol has undergone an extensive restoration to show standards while retaining it's matching number original motor. Retrofitted with 3 downdraft Weber carbs, the car has seen selective use in long distance rallies including the California Mille. It is complete with top, tonneau cover, side curtains, glass wind wings, and original Lucas Tri-bar headlamps. This AC Bristol is a most desirable collectible both proven and sorted. The Alfa Romeo Spider is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993 — with small run of 1994 models for the North American market. The Spider remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The first three series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993 — the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo before the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione of 2007. In 1978 Niki Lauda joined the Brabham Alfa Romeo for a new start after his stint with Ferrari. With Spiders in full production, and to celebrate this new addition to Alfa’s race team, it was decided that Niki Lauda was to be commemorated by a special edition Spider in his name. Launched at the 1978 Long Beach Grand Prix, the Niki Lauda Spider, Chassis # 001 was driven on the circuit by Niki himself. Thus, we are left today with only an estimated 350 Niki Lauda Special Edition Spiders. The differences are subtle, but all add up to a fantastic look. They include such items as a fiberglass rear spoiler that wraps onto the rear quarters that was a first for Alfa Romeo and only seen on past prototypes; special badging on the sides, and a numbered plaque on the dash. Only one color scheme was offered in remembrance of the Brabham F1 livery, Red with stick on blue/white stripes. Other differences included door mirrors, exhaust tip etc… This is number 218 of 350 Niki Lauda Specials built and is an all original 3 owner car. It has been serviced since new by a the local selling dealer and now Alfa specialist. The patina is just wonderful! The R Type is the second series of post-war Bentley automobiles, replacing the Mark VI. Essentially a larger-boot version of the Mk VI, the R type is regarded by some as a stop-gap before the introduction of the S series cars in 1955. As with its predecessor, a standard body was available as well as coachbuilt versions by firms including H. J. Mulliner & Co., Park Ward, Harold Radford, Freestone and Webb and others. Other than the radiator grilles and the carburation there was little difference between the standard Bentley R Type and the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn. The R Type was the more popular marque, with some 2,500 units manufactured during its run to the Silver Dawn's 760. During development it was referred to as the Bentley Mark VII. Indeed the chassis cards for these cars describe them as Bentley 7. The R Type name which is now usually applied stems from chassis series RT. The front of the saloon model was identical to the Mark VI, but the boot (trunk) was almost doubled in capacity and the engine increased in displacement from 4.25 to 4.5 litres. For buyers looking for a more distinctive car, a decreasing percentage had custom coachwork available from the dwindling number of UK coachbuilders. These ranged from the grand flowing lines of Freestone and Webb's conservative, almost prewar shapes, to the practical conversions of Harold Radford which including a clamshell style tailgate and folding rear seats. All R Type models use an iron-block/aluminium-head straight-6 engine fed by twin SU Type H6 carburettors. The basic engine displaced 4.6 L. A 4-speed manual transmission was standard with a 4-speed automatic option becoming standard on later cars. This is a very lovely original example with low mileage showing but undocumented. The car runs but would need a master brake cylinder to be driven. We are currently accepting offers. The Daimler SP250 is a sports car which was built by British manufacturer Daimler in Coventry from 1959 to 1964. The SP250 was originally known as the Daimler Dart, but Daimler soon dropped the Dart name when threatened with legal action by Chrysler’s Dodge division, and the car was then renamed the Daimler SP250. It was launched at the 1959 New York Motor Show, and its greatest success was in the North American market. It had a fibreglass body, four-wheel Girling disc brakes, and a 2.5-litre Hemi-head V8 engine designed by Edward Turner. The car was described as a 2+2, but the bench-like rear seat offered very limited leg-room unless the front seats were pushed fully forward. Jaguar bought Daimler in 1960, and were immediately concerned about the chassis flex. They brought out the B-spec. version with extra outriggers on the chassis and a strengthening hoop between the A-posts. There were also other detail improvements, including an adjustable steering column. B-spec. and C-spec. cars do not have the 'whiskers' that A-spec. have and some do not have the optional front bumper, so there is very little front protection for these cars. The Daimler 250 has had a documented professional frame up restoration to show quality. It was shown at Meadowbrook and done only mileage showing since the restoration. It has a rare optional Overdirve, factory hardtop, soft top, tonneau cover, and boot cover. This SP250 has been nicely sorted, is extremely tight, and has a lovely sound emitting from the 2.6 liter Hemi V8. The all fiber glass body has one of the most unique and identifiable shapes in the world! The 1970 240Z was introduced to the American market by Yutaka Katayama, president of Nissan Motors USA operations, widely known as Mr. K. The 1970 through the mid-1971 model year 240Z was referred to as the Series I. These early cars had many subtle but notable features differing from later cars. The most easily visible difference is that these early cars had a chrome "240Z" badge on the sail pillar, and two horizontal vents in the rear hatch below the glass molding providing flow through ventilation. In mid-1971, for the Series II 240Z-cars, the sail pillar emblems were restyled with just the letter "Z" placed in a circular vented emblem, and the vents were eliminated from the hatch panel of the car. Design changes for the U.S. model 240Z occurred throughout production, including interior modifications for the 1972 model year, and a change in the location of the bumper over-riders, as well as the addition of some emission control devices and the adoption of a new style of emissions reducing carburetors for the 1973 model year. This particular 240Z is a genuine survivor example. It is a very desirable year for the car as improvements were made and smog controls were not overbearing so performance was at its peak. The car has had one repaint in the original color and rertains the original interior. The body is nearly rustfree save from some minor blisters on the lower edge of the front fenders. The undercarriage and original floor pans are in remarkably good condition. One look under hood tells you the car has been unmolested and not modified like so many other examples. The popular aluminum wheels are in excellent shape and the car comes with the original steel wheels & Datsun hubcaps. This is a great car to experience the pleasure of driving and reliving the good old days of sport car enthusiasm while also enjoying an appreciating asset. The Jaguar E-Type is a British sports car, which was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. In 1971, a new 5.3 L twelve-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine was introduced, with uprated brakes and standard power steering. The convertible used the longer-wheelbase 2+2 floorplan. The Lotus Europa is a two door mid-engined GT coupé built by Lotus Cars from 1966 to 1975. The original Europa used Lotus founder Colin Chapman's minimalist steel backbone chassis that was first used in the Lotus Elan. The Europa was based on a design sketch by Ron Hickman to compete for Henry Ford II's contract to build a Le Mans race car in the early 1960s. The Europa was designed and built to be an embodiment of Chapman's oft-stated philosophy of automotive design: "Simplify, then add lightness." The four-wheel independent suspension was typical of Chapman's thinking. The rear suspension was a modified Chapman strut, as used for Chapman's earlier Formula racing car designs. The car's handling prompted automotive writers to describe the Europa as the nearest thing to a Formula car for the road. In all, Lotus built about 9,300 Europas. This particular Lotus Europa twincam was wonderfully restored in the late 1990's by a Lotus enthusiast who wanted a showy but useable Lotus. This car has both the Big Valve head and the 5 speed transmission, most desirable options. The original wood dash was replaced with a hand crafted aluminum piece that gives a race car look to the cockpit. This Europa has the original numbers matching motor and Cosmic alloy wheels. Don't miss this really nice Europa.
